Abstract This thesis introduces two new families of distributios, namely, the extended Marshall-Olkin inverse Pareto (EMOIP) and the extended Marshall-Olkin Pareto type I (EMOPI). For each family, the structial properties such as: quantile, random generation and moments are explored. A Renyi entropy and strength-stress also introduced for EMOPI family. The unknown parameters of the two families are estimated for both complete and censored samples using five different methods of estimation; namely, maximum likelihood, maximum product of spacing, percentiles, least squares and weighted least squares. Based on type I and type II censored samples, the maximum likelihood method of estimation is used to obtain point estimators for the unknown parameters. A real data set on breast cancer is introduced to illustrate the usefulness of the distributions in applications |
