Abstract Among the serious global issues facing mankind at present is water pollution. Many researchers working hard to find environmentally friendly, easy-to-use and cost-effective ways to solve this problem. The most pollutants that pose a major threat to human health and ecosystems are heavy metals and dyes. There are many techniques that can be used for treatment pollution. These treatment methods are expensive, have high energy requirements and often result in sludge and toxic waste that need other ways to dispose of them carefully. Therefore, we still need to find other ways to purify water more efficient, cost-effective and in terms of the impact of these methods on the surrounding environment. Recently, polymer based carbon composites are growing attention in water treatment process. Polymer/carbon composites can be easily obtained by using inexpensive materials, equipment, and characterized. Polymer/carbon composite have specific surface area, chemical and thermal stabilities, high adsorption capability due to different functional groups (OH, COOH, CN,…) on its surface. Their recovery and reusability from aqueous solution are crucial factors for further applications. Therefore, the development of effective and highly efficient new composite materials would facilitate the water treatment. |
