First- Problem of the study:
In general, a lupus erythematous patient needs the necessary medical treatment and social care during his illness, as he is exposed to some life problems and pressures resulting from the disease that may interfere with his day and life. These pressures may be social, psychological, economic, professional or family. They may act as an obstacle between the process of implementing or continuing medical treatment. So these pressures must be known and work to be discovered and reduce their severity on the patient until the goal of treatment is achieved. Life pressures have negative repercussions on the health and psyche of the patient, as they represent the main reason behind feeling psychological pain. The effects of these pressures may be reflected on the aspects of the patient,s personality and cause him physical and psychological disorders. Life pressures play an important role in the emergence of depressive symptoms. Therefore, stressful life events are psychosocial variables that contribute to the psychological health of the lupus erythematosus patient.
Medical Social Service is one of the areas of social service provided by social workers for the benefit of patients during the stages of receiving treatment in the hospital. These services aim to help patients and their families to continue receiving appropriate treatment with the least amount of social difficulties by dealing with patients and their families mainly and with those in charge of providing medical and social services, psychological support and alleviating the pressures they are exposed to in society in general. In addition to working to improve the social performance of these patients by using appropriate professional methods and self and environmental resources to achieve these goals.
General practice is one of the modern trends and professional efforts to work with individuals, aid to groups and families, and take care of societies. Through it, the general practitioner helps sick individuals, increase their ability to solve their problems, overcome the pressures they face, keep pace with life requirements, facilitate interactions between patients and members of society, and between people and their environment, and divide patterns responsible for facing pressures. The general practitioner is considered as a representative of the institution in which he works and is responsible for guiding the individuals (patients) towards achieving their goals and overcoming the pressures they face, whether they are psychological, social or economic…etc.
