The study sought to identify the meaning of semiology and from it to identify the semiology of the image because of its many contributions to renewing awareness and carrying various meanings and connotations for the recipient to obtain knowledge in its simplest forms through the banner, icon, sign and media image for its impact on the recipient’s eye, within the scope of the study, an experiment was conducted on a group of media photos of US President Donald Trump, which were published on some of the social networking site (Facebook) pages to emphasize the meaning of visual semiology in one of its fields.
It aimed to monitor, analyze and compare the media image of US President (Donald Trump) on social media, reveal the implications of what the images contain and identify the mechanisms used in the images, and an analysis of the characteristics and trends of that media image of the American president and the reflection of this coverage on public opinion, by applying it to the Donald J. Trump page, which is the official page of US President ”Trump”, the White House page, which is the official page of the White House, and the Democratic Party page, which is the official page of the Democratic Party It is the party opposed to US President ”Donald Trump”, and the Republican National Committee (GOP) page, which is the official page of the Republican Party to which the US president belongs. During the period June 16, 2015 (the beginning of Trump’s official announcement of his candidacy for the presidency), until the end of his presidency (January 2021).
The study found the diversity and difference of strategies and techniques that were used according to the political and social contexts surrounding each image. The marketing campaign to build the media image of President Donald Trump focused on more than one aspect, one of the most important aspects used was how to show the competitor in the worst possible image, and the other aspect is the religious aspect, and politicians use religion as an emotional entry point to spread some ideas, given the great place it has in the hearts of citizens, Political campaigns of various kinds exploit it to show the politician in the image of a believer who follows the teachings of religion. In general, political regimes increasingly embrace religion and religious values, especially in times of crisis, and then the focus is on the chord of religion to influence the majority of the masses and the limited religious culture.
The results also found that the issues that were focused on differed from the first side, the US President’s page and the Republican Party page, where the two pages were interested in publishing everything that served the interest of improving the image of the president and distorting the image of the competitor, and from the second side, the White House page, which was interested in publishing all decisions and achievements government affiliated. On the third side, the Democratic Party page, which focused on focusing as much on tarnishing the image of Donald Trump until he lost the presidential race against Joe Biden.
The analysis showed that the Republican Party’s Facebook page and the official page in the White House, the strategy of (amplification) in presenting the president during the study period, as most of the pictures on the page featured the president in an official form, and the scarcity of pictures of the president’s presentation unofficially. Although the official page of the American president used to publish from time to time composite pictures of the president on the posters of foreign series or foreign films of wide fame.
