Abstract

It is increasingly apparent that access to healthcare without adequate infrastructure and quality of care is insufficient to improve the population health outcomes and patient satisfaction upon receiving services. Aim: The current study aimed to assess the hospitals’ infrastructure and its relation to quality of nursing care and patients’ satisfaction at Port Said hospitals. Subjects and methods: A descriptive correlational research design was utilized at As-Salam and El-Zohor hospitals which are affiliated to the Ministry of Health in Port Said governorate, Egypt. A simple random sample of 200 nurses and a convenient sample of 200 patients from both hospitals were participated. The Hospital Infrastructure Standards Observational Checklist, The Quality of Nursing Care Observation Checklist and The Patient Satisfaction Questionnaire were the tools of data collection. Results: The adherence with the infrastructure standards was met in both hospitals (85.41%), the highest mean score of the quality of nursing care was found in El-Zohor hospital (Mean= 67.08, SD=± 5.25), El-Zohor hospital had a high level of patient satisfaction in almost all dimensions. Conclusion: The quality of nursing care and hospital infrastructure were positive predicators for a higher patient satisfaction level.
