The present study aims to make a suggested map for developing Al-Azhar secondary institutes in the light of renewing the religious discourse in Egypt. It develops education and supports the role of Al-Azhar secondary education in the light of renewing the religious discourse. It determines the obstacles and their confrontation methods in Al-Azhar secondary education in the light of renewing the religious discourse.
To achieve the study objectives, the researcher adopted the analytical descriptive and foresight approaches. In the field study, the researcher applied a questionnaire to identify the role and obstacles of Al-Azhar secondary education in renewing the religious discourse to a sample of (600) participants (students and officials) at Al-Azhar secondary institutes in Sohag and a school survey form to identify the reality of human and material capabilities in a sample of (17) Al-Azhar secondary institutes in Sohag.
The field study concluded the high degree of the role of the curricula of Al-Azhar secondary education in the light of renewing religious discourse, the high degree of the available role of school activities in Al-Azhar secondary education in the light of renewing religious discourse, the moderate role of the teacher in Al-Azhar secondary institutes in the light of renewing religious discourse, and the moderate role of administration in Al-Azhar secondary education in the light of renewing religious discourse. These obstacles existed because of the high degree of internal and external obstacles in Al-Azhar secondary institutes due to the lack of some material capabilities, which negatively affected the development of these institutes in the light of renewing religious discourse.
In the light of the results, a suggested strategic map was made to develop Al-Azhar secondary institutes in the light of renewing religious discourse in Egypt, including seven domains (i.e., vision, mission, objectives, beneficiaries, internal operation, learning and development, and finance).
