Abstract Background; Fracture Pelvis is very stressful situation for patient and it requires a competent nurse to meet the patient’s needs and to prevent complications. So, orthopedic nurses play a complicated and vital role in care of patients with Fracture Pelvis, Aim; to assess nurses’ performance in care of patients with fracture pelvis. Design; A descriptive research design was utilized in the conduction of this study. Setting; the study was carried out in Orthopedic department, (1-2-3-4) at Ain Shams Specialized Hospital. Subject; Convenient sample of all available nurses (30) in the previous mentioned setting. Tools; IA structured nurses’ self-administered questionnaire, II Nurses’ practice observational checklist. Result; showed that 56.7%of the nurses had unsatisfactory total level of knowledge regarding care of patients with fracture pelvis, and as regarding to total level of practice 43.3%of nurses have unsatisfactory level of total practice. Also there were no statistically significant relation between total level of knowledge and age, gender and Job categories (P>0.05), In-addition there were no statistically significant relation between total level of practice and age, gender, marital status and Job categories. There were positive statistical significant relation between the studied nurses level of knowledge and their practice, with p-value (p<0.05).Conclusion; Based on results of the current study, there was positive statistical significant relation between the studied nurses level of knowledge and their practice, regarding care of patients with fracture pelvis. Recommendations; Special training programs should be designated and presented to all orthopedic nurses in order to increase their skills of clinical practice. |
