Abstract

This study was conducted on eighty adult New Zealand rabbits, divided into 4 equal groups (20 rabbits in each).
Effects of OXT, MEPD, and their combination on some biochemical studies:
1) Liver function tests: Subcutaneous injection of OXT (50 mg/kg bwt.) to male New Zealand rabbits given for 7 consecutive days induced a significant elevation in the values of ALT, AST, and ALP on the day one, three, seven, and fourteen post treatment which indicated liver injury. Meanwhile, OXT caused a significant decrease in the albumin level on the day three, seven and fourteen one post treatments. Regarding the results of concurrent oral administration of OXT (50 mg/kg bwt.) and PD (500 mg/kg bwt.) on ALT, AST, and ALP, their values were significantly decreased on days one, seven, and fourteen post treatment .
2) Kidney function tests: The value of serum Urea and creatinine of OXT 50 mg/kg bwt injected rabbits for 7 consecutive days possessed a significant increase in the serum urea.
Effects on Oxidant and anti-oxidant enzymes, Effect on renal oxidant/ anti-oxidant enzymes, Effects on apoptotic and anti- apoptotic markers, Histopathological study and Immunohistochemical study.
