Abstract

Patients with RA experience different aspects of sexual problems such as difficulties in sexual performance and diminution of sexual desire, arousal, lubrication, orgasm and satisfaction, which are directly or indirectly caused by the disease .The cause of sexual problems with RA is multifactorial due to chronic disease aspects such as disease activity, pain, reduced physical activities, fatigue, and poor sleep and psychiatric comorbidities such as depression, anxiety, poor self-esteem, and altered body image and rarely drugs used for treatment. Researchers are needed to identify and understand the mechanisms of sexual problems in RA to determine different types of interventions to support a satisfactory quality of life for patients with RA.
The rehabilitation management of individuals with rheumatoid arthritis is imperative to decrease the potential long-term disabilities as noted above. Specifically, individuals with rheumatoid arthritis are at risk for decreased flexibility, muscle atrophy, decreased muscle strength and reduced cardiovascular endurance. Deficit in such areas wouldlead to functional compromise and increased health care expenditures. Therefore, a multifactorial approach utilizing medications and rehabilitative techniques is necessary. Fortunately, under proper counseling, individuals with rheumatoid arthritis can safely exercise, improving overall physical fitness, greater ease for activities of daily living and an improved sense of well-being.
The aim of the study is to improve sexual function among the females with RA.
The study was a post questionnaire Quasi experimental study had been carried out in Rheumatology department outpatient clinics at Suez Canal
