The agricultural sector is one of the most important sectors in the Egyptian economy due to the vital and effective role it plays in economic activity. The spaciousness that expands and provides everything in it to achieve comprehensive development if the latest innovations offered by science are taken advantage of. It also contributes about 13.6% of the GDP, as the value of agricultural production amounted to 142.2 billion pounds for the year 2017/2018, and the value of agricultural exports amounted to about 6.79 billion pounds during the same year. The agricultural sector contributes to the maintenance of about 55% of the population, as it employs about 5.5 million workers, representing about 27% of the total labor force during the same year, and achieves self-sufficiency with 75% of red meat, 70% of sugar and 58% of wheat.The development in agriculture and the use of modern farming systems has resulted in a significant increase in agricultural waste, as some recent studies on the exploitation of agricultural waste revealed that the volume of agricultural waste, both types of plants and animals that are not recycled, reaches 21 million tons annually, which leads to environmental and animal damage. To waste 4.6 billion pounds annually, and that more than half of plant waste is not utilized, and that only a quarter of animal waste is what is utilized, and that the volume of agricultural waste in Egypt that harms the environment reaches 35 million tons annually, divided as follows according to its quality 23 million tons of plant waste, 12 million tons of animal waste, and as for plant waste, only 11 million tons are used, and 12 million tons are lost. As for animal waste, which amounts to 12 million tons annually, only 3 million tons are used, and 9 million are lost. tons, meaning that the loss of agricultural waste of both kinds amounts to 21 million tons annually, i.e. 4.6 billion pounds are wasted annually, in addition to environmental pollution and the dangers resulting from it, if only 12% of these plant wastes are recycled such as firewood Cotton, rice straw, sorghum wood, sugar beet crowns, tomato crowns, and other plant wastes, in addition to animal waste, which are disposed of in unsafe ways that pollute the environment and the consequent damages.
