Abstract

Infertility is a complex disorder with significant effect on patients as regards, medical, psychosocial, and economic aspects. Cultural and religious aspects of having children, play some roles. Infertile couples who were receiving treatment had reported an increased emotional distress and decreased marital satisfaction (1,2). According to WHO, infertility is defined as a disease of the reproductive system defined by failure of clinical pregnancy after 12 months or more of regular unprotected sexual intercourse (3). Prevalence of infertile individuals is rapidly increasing globally. It affects about 10-15% of reproductive age couples. Female factors contribute 40-45% in etiology of infertility (4). In the United States, around 10 percent of women aged 15 to 44 years are estimated to have difficulty conceiving or staying pregnant. Worldwide, 8 to 12 percent of couple‘s experience fertility problems (5). Unexplained infertility refers to the absence of a definable cause for a couple’s failure to achieve pregnancy after 12 months of attempting conception, despite a thorough evaluation, or after six months in women 35 years old and older (6). Authorities vary in their concept of what constitutes a thorough evaluation, and these opinions have evolved over time. Currently, a thorough evaluation typically includes documentation of ovulation, tubal patency, normal uterine cavity, normal semen analysis and adequate ovarian oocyte reserve (7).
