Abstract Many nonlinear PDEs are widely used to describe many areas of science and engineering. Therefore, investigating exact solutions of nonlinear PDEs has been one of the everlasting interest in mathematics and physics. This thesis studied the concept of finding exact solutions of PDEs using some important methods. In chapter 1, we discussed five methods used to find exact solutions of nonlinear PDEs and introduced a simple illustrative example for each method. In chapter 2, the CRE method has been used to find some new exact solutions of New KDV-Like wave equation. The CRE method is very effective in finding new exact solutions for PDEs that can’t be obtained by some other methods introduced in this thesis. In chapter 3, a variation of parameter method was introduced to investigate some new exact solutions to some models from mathematical biology and a predator prey system. In chapter 4, we proved the equivalence between extended tanh method and Bäcklund transformation of Riccati equation method. We also discussed its application to nonlinear PDEs and DDEs with a PDE example. |
