Abstract Emotional intelligence is fundamental to learning process and emotional intelligence is considered as an important characteristic of nurse student that can affect the quality of their work. Therefore, the student nurse allowed to a better understanding of their self-determination. Aim of study: is to explore their relation between nursing student’ emotional intelligence and their self-determination in Faculty of Nursing at Port-Said University. Subjects and Method: Descriptive correlation research designs were utilized in this study. This study will be conducted in Faculty of Nursing at Port-Said University. Data for this study were collected by using two tools emotional intelligence scale and self-determination scale. Results: revealed a high level (71.41% ± 12.31) emotional intelligence of student nurses at Faculty of Nursing, Port-Said University. Also, the self-determination scored the highest mean percentage (74.49±15.35) for nursing student. There was statistically significant correlation between nursing student emotional intelligence and their self-determination. Conclusion: nursing students had high total emotional intelligence competencies with high percentage in personal competencies. Also, there was positive significant correlation was detected between nursing student’s emotional intelligence and their self-determination. |
