Abstract No doubt that human health is an effective element in productivity and the economy, sick building syndrome is an issue that not only affect on economy, but also a beginning of acute diseases. Indoor environmental quality is the major influent factor affecting on SBS occurrence. The strategies of SBS mitigation provides the ability to develop the aspects of indoor environmental quality (indoor air quality, thermal comfort, visual comfort, materials, acoustics), and achieving sustainability. That can be accomplished by: First, defining the issue of sick building syndrome in addition to presenting the causes of ”sick building syndrome” related to occupants and the building. Second: addressing the techniques that could be used for mitigate SBS. Third: presenting requirements of LEED that evaluate sustainable buildings and communities and introducing the requirements that evaluate indoor environmental quality. Finally: analyzing Egyptian buildings to explore and diagnose SBS. Also, it is accomplished by presenting a suggested principle of evaluate IEQ. |
