Abstract Open heart surgery is common interventional procedure for different heart diseases. The major indicator for assessment nursing care quality is patient satisfaction they perceive during hospitalization. This study aimed to evaluate the impact of nursing training program regarding care of patients undergoing open heart surgery on nurses’ performance and patients’ satisfaction. A quasi experimental research included 30 nurses and 108 patients’ undergoing open heart surgery at Cardiothorathic surgery department at Mansoura University Hospital. Three tools were used to collect data. The study found that there is significant positive impact on nurses’ knowledge, practice and patients’ satisfaction toward the nursing care. The study recommended training programs should be organized for nurses to improve their performance regarding open heart surgery. |
