Abstract Environmental pollution by organic compounds became broad as mining and industrial activities enlarged in the 19th century (Torres et al., 2008). Pollution of water owed to organic contaminants is a severe terrorbecause of severe toxicities and carcinogenic nature of the pollutants (Ali et al., 2012). Organic compounds are produced from domestic sewage, municipal run-off, industrial effluents and agriculture wastewater. During the breakdown process of organic pollutants, the dissolved oxygen in the receiving water may be used up at a greater rate than it can be replaced, causing oxygen exhaustion and having severe concerns for the stream biota. Wastewater with organic pollutants contains large amounts of suspended objects, which decrease the light available to photosynthetic organisms and, on settling out, variation the characteristics of the river bed, translation it an unsuitable habitat for many invertebrates (Ali and Aboul-Enein, 2004 and Damià, 2005). Reviews have also been inscribed in this field (Aksu, 2005, Inoue & Kawamoto, 2008 and Ali, 2011) but no one is focusing especially on the removal of organic pollutants. |
