Abstract

To study the relationship between Obesity and Pain especially thermal pain, also to identify the role of CCR2 receptors and ASIC3 ion channels in pain. The project focuses on the effect of high fat diet on the expression and activity of ion channels and chemokine receptors involved in pain. This project combines two areas of research on pain and food intake. Understanding the impact of high fat diet, and chronic systemic inflammation associated with obesity, on ion channels involved in nerve pain pathways represents an interesting challenge for understanding the etiology of chronic pain associated with metabolic disorders. The increase in the prevalence of these chronic diseases conditions, pain and obesity, in the world population calls for the interest of this basic research.
