Abstract This thesis presents, Ontology Based Digital Library (OBDL). OBDL is an open source digital library system which takes user query for finding information in the digital library and performs a semantic search process to retrieve semantically related resources. All metadata stores in the library are available in Resource Description Framework (RDF) format for querying and processing by SemanSreach, which is a part of OBDL architecture. The architecture includes a generic RDF-based model that represents relationships among objects and their components. Queries against these relationships are supported by an RDF triple store. The system also can take resource‟s metadata either by user input or loading an XML file and storing it semantically in the library‟s repositories. One of the main contributions of this resource is enabling user to cooperate in doing research by allowing them to comment on resource and upload this on metadata, which will be added to the resource metadata (after approval by administrators). |
