Abstract The use of natural material as inhibitors has been generally accepted because of their ability to reduce the rate of corrosion when incorporated into a corrosive environment due to their safe, inexpensive, environmentally friendly, non-toxic, and biodegradable nature. The electrochemical methods also offer variation in the effectiveness of inhibition corrosion by adjusting controlled variables such as inhibitor concentration and temperature. The first chapter is introduction and discusses the corrosion theory, corrosion causes, corrosion processes, corrosion movement and inhibitor types. It also includes a literature review on the latest publications of various forms of corrosion and green inhibitors in carbon steel alloys. The second chapter is about materials and processesand focuses mainly on the experimental reagents. It includes the steel alloy chemical composition, the preparation of the green inhibitors solution of cinnamaldehyde and 1,3-dibutylthiourea, and the 3.5 wt.% NaCl electrolytic solutions. The electrochemical techniques such as open circuit potential (OCP), potentiodynamic polarization (PP), electrochemical impedance spectroscopy (EIS) are used for the measurements of electrochemical corrosion. The third chapter is the result and discussion. |
