The English journalists’s documentation
of the Egyptians’s life in the 19th century
The thesis consists of three chapters, the first chapter is entitled: “The Egyptian
Issue of 1882.” In this chapter, the researcher will review the role of the international
press, especially the British newspapers, in preparing the English public opinion
for the necessity of occupying Egypt before the Suez Canal falls into the grip of
France as a link in the chain of events of the colonial race between England and
France and the steps The tactical plan that England planned to pave the way for
the occupation of Egypt, whether by exchanging Egypt’s debts for England’s share
in the Suez Canal or by circumventing the Ottoman Sultan to seize Cyprus as a
preemptive step to make it a military landing point close to the shores of Egypt on
the Mediterranean Sea and claiming the right of Egyptian peasants to be freed from
the control of Ottoman rule unfair.
