Abstract • Future studies should prospectively assess the impact of Internet-based health information websites on health care utilization and outcome. These outcomes should include the assessment of the impact of OHI on specific health outcomes such as the physical and emotional health of the internet health information seekers and to assess the long-term effect of OHI on users’ behavior. • A large scale replication of the current study is recommended. This scale should include a larger number of Egyptian internet users from different territories. Additionally, further studies should include different types of healthcare workers such as physicians and nurses. • While examinations of credibility assessments of health information retrieved through traditional websites and online resources are abundant in the literature mentioned in thie study, only a few have investigated how the general consumers assess the reliability of health-related information that they find on different health websites. Therefore, further studies should focus on how to assess the credibility of the available Arabic health information websites, as well as the available health infomration on social media. b) For health caregivers and policymakers • Health care providers should understand that patients will continuously use the internet as a source of health information. So, they should guide their patients and offer suggestions for Web-based health resources and to assist patients in evaluating the quality of medical information available on the Internet. Open discussion with their patients will empower their patients to take an active part in their treatment and will improve their doctor-patient relationship. • In this study we found thet the OHI have a wide diversity of OHI resources available for the health information seekers, and some of the available OHI is subjected to manipulation for promotion purposes.
