Abstract

Based on the experimental results of structural and physical analysis of as-quenched melt-spun Pb-Sn-Ca-Ag alloys, the following conclusions can be drawn:
1. The x-Ray diffraction pattern and its analysis of as-quenched melt-spun Pb-xSn (x=10, 63, 90 wt.%) alloys show the existence of two kinds of phases, face centered cubic Pb and tetragonal Sn phase.
2. Adding Sn to Pb leads to increasing Young’s modulus, Vickers hardness and corrosion rate CR but decreasing the electrical resistivity and internal friction Q-1.
3. The x-Ray diffraction pattern and its analysis of as-quenched melt-spun Pb-10Sn-xCa (x=0, 0.5, 1, 1.5, 2, 2.5 wt.%) alloys show the existence of three kinds of phases, face centered cubic Pb and tetragonal Sn phase and face centered cubic CaPb3 phase.
4. Adding Ca to 90Pb-10Sn alloy lead to increasing the melting temperature, Young’s modulus, Vickers hardness and creep resistance and electrical resistance but, decreasing internal friction Q-1 and corrosion resistance CR.
5. The x-Ray diffraction pattern and its analysis of as-quenched melt-spun Pb-10Sn-2.5Ca-xAg (x=0, 0.5, 1, 1.5, 2, 2.5 wt.%) alloys show the existence of four kinds of phases, face centered cubic Pb and tetragonal Sn, face centered cubic CaPb3 and face centered cubic Ag phase.
