Abstract The present study was designed to investigate the modulating effect of vitamin E and alcoholic olive leaf extract on adverse effects of doxorubicin. This research was held on thirty five, 3 months old apparently healthy wistar albino rats weighing between 180-200 gm average body weights divided into 7 equal groups (5 rats in each). group 1 (control group): Rats in this group received 0.5 ml saline solution 0.9% per os for 14 successive days. group 2 (doxorubicin group): Rats in this group received twice dosages of doxorubicin (10 mg/kg b.wt. i.p) on 1st and 10th days of treatment. group 3 (vitamin E group): Rats in this group received vitamin E at dose of 100 mg /kg b. wt per os daily using stomach tube for 14 successive days. group 4 (alcoholic olive leaf extract group): Rats in this group received alcoholic olive leaf extract at dose of 400 mg /kg b.wt per os daily using stomach tube for 14 successive days. group 5 (doxorubicin + vitamin E group): Rats in this group received twice dosages of doxorubicin (10 mg/kg b.wt. i.p) on first and tenth days and vitamin E at dose of 100 mg /kg b. wt per os daily using stomach tube for 14 successive days. |
