Abstract

Industrial development is generally associated with the increase in wastewater discharge of effluents loaded with organic and inorganic pollutants. The elimination of hazardous pollutant from wastewater becomes a challenge. The conventional technologies for removal of organic pollutant do not solve the problem, since they are based on transfer from one phase to another, leaving pollution problem solution for further generation.
Due to the development in industry in Egypt and the Arabian, countries, most of the industrial wastewater contains very toxic organic compounds, which are not biodegradable and could not be treated with the traditional techniques. Due to their environmental impact, this waste requires treatment before being disposed.
Pharmaceuticals are a part of water organic contaminants. Antibiotics are dangerous pollutants in the aquatic environment because of their negative effects on aquatic life and people. Therefore, it is very important to improve the efficiency.
Bisphenol A is one of the most widely used chemicals in the production of epoxy resins and polycarbonate plastics of food and drink packaging. As a consequence, of their existence in the polycarbonate drinking bottles, they find their way into wastewater effluent at room temperature. BPA showed significant inhibitory effects on the transcriptional activity as well as the anti-androgenic impact on a mammalian system, hence BPA is considered one of the palpable hazardous pollutant in the Environment.
Heavy metals are considered as one of the major toxic pollutants due to its long persistency in the environment as they cannot be degraded. As an example to the toxic carcinogenic heavy metal ion is Cr (VI) which must be converted to the nontoxic Cr (III) in the effluent.
The study was aiming of investigate the ability for the decontamination of some of such toxic pollutants in industrial wastewater effluents via solar photocatalytic oxidation technique.
In this study, four different photo-catalysts were prepared based on the percentage concentration of the nickel based hexa-hydroxy-stannates (NiSn(OH)6) in the parent ZnO to yield four candidates hybrid nanocomposites for photocatalytic decontamination of highly recalcitrant.
