Abstract
endometriosis is one of the most common gynecological diseases that causing severe pain and infertility. The Aim of the study was to apply instructional guideline to increase awareness of maternity nurse’s knowledge and attitude regarding endometriosis. Methods: quasi experimental study design was used .Setting: the study was conducted at Obstetric and Gynecological Department at Benha university Hospital. Sample size, (90) nurses working in Obstetrics and Gynecological Department at Benha university hospital. Sample type: convenient sample. Tools of data collection included: first tool, a structured self-administered questionnaire. Second tool: Modified likert scale for nurses’ attitude. Using instructional guideline regarding endometriosis. Results 76.7%of studied nurses had incorrect knowledge in preprogram, 82.2%of studied nurses had correct knowledge in post program and follow-up program. Also, 71.1% of studied nurses had negative attitude in preprogram, 74.4% of them had positive attitude in post program and follow up program. Moreover, There were statistical differences and highly statistical significant differences in the studied nurses pre and post, follow up program regarding knowledge and attitude regarding endometriosis (p<0.001).The study concluded that instructional guideline has positive effect on nurses knowledge and attitude regarding endometriosis. The study recommended that continuous training courses and follows up programs for nurses regarding endometriosis.
