Introduction: -
Particular attention has been paid to students ,attending residential institutions ,as evidenced by the large number of studies on this subject and emphasized the importance and the effective ness of the category ,where studies confirmed that deprivation of the father or mother ,deprives the son of learning and training ,delaying his mental and psychological development and the lack of growth of his social skills .
The system adopted within the residential assessments has many disadvantages ,including :frequent change of supervising stuff from time to time ,and lack of educational preparation for supervisors ,as well as, the lack of personal interaction between the child and another personality to replace his mother. . . In addition
the accommodation is similar to the system of camps ,which is contrary to the family atmosphere ,which causes psychological problems for the sons (Samia Ansari 293:1989).This results in psychological problems that impede his learning as a problem of loss of self-confidence ,tension, shame, weakness, of personality and concealment of feelings and inability to express them ,difficulty in being able to talk about his own feelings, in addition to social withdrawal ,which is consistent with the general characteristics of Alexithemia ,including the difficulty of describing feelings and limited imaginations (as confirmed in the study of Ahmed Metwally 2007),and these students suffer from lack of social skills and the inability to adapt to the problems of life ,this lead the researcher to the study of emotional intelligence ,as well the need to develop its skills to help them adapt to life successfully ,since success in personal relations depends on the ability to the person ti think about his emotional experiences and responding in an emotionally compatible manner .
Golman noted that emotional intelligence is more important to the success of the person in life .The researcher therefore thought about preparing a training program in the development of emotional intelligence to reduce Alexithemia for students in the preparatory stage in the residential institutions.
Study problem:
The current problem is that reduction of emotional skills leads to shyness and social anxiety among students who suffer from Alexithemia in the residential institutions ,while acquisition of emotional skills leads to controlling behavior in social interaction ,and the person who has no emotional skills is more likely to feel lonely ,ashamed, and introversion (Karema Abdel Emam,1996).The alexithemic person has weakness of personality ,inability on verbal communication and description of emotions .The problem lies in the difficulty of the use of emotions as a result of emotional response ,where the conscience is essentially physical with the least amount of verbal expression of it and so the attention to emotion and feelings is the lifeline that faces his emotional deviation ,due to the psychological pressures the students face there .
Austen and others(Austen et al. 2005)studied the relationship between the emotional intelligence and Alexithemic ,personality ,sense of satisfaction with life and health .the results confirmed that there is a correlation relationship between emotional intelligence and satisfaction with life .
There is a negative relationship between alexithemic and emotional intelligence, but rareness of studies which are interested in students in the residential institutions helped the researcher to get the idea of this study and try to identify most proplems which face the students in the residential institutuons.
Study Questions:-
the study problem restricted in answering the following questions
1- What is the impact of the training program in reducing Alexithemia for students in the preparatory stage in the residential institutions?
This question is divided into several sub-questions ,namely:
a-Are there statistically significant diffrrences between mean scores of the experimental group in the pre and post measurement on scale of Alexithemia?
b- Are there diffrrences between mean scores of the experimental group in the post and follow- up measurement on scale of Alexithemia?
c- Are there diffrrences between mean ranks of the scores of the experimental and control group in the post measurement on scale of Alexithemia?
2-What is the impact of the training program in the development of emotional intelligence to reduce Alexithemia for students in the preparatory stage in the residential institutions?
This question is divided into several sub-questions ,namely:

Objectives of the study
The current study aimed to:
1- Identify The effectiveness of a training program in developing the emotional intelligence and its effett to reduce Alexithemia for students in the residential institutions.
2-Identify the level of the emotional intelligence for students in the residential institutions after applying the program.
The importance of the study:
Theoretical importance:-
1-The importance of the study subject, emotional intelligence that
has an influential role in the individual ability to succeed in life
whatever the amount of his academic capabilities, weakness in
emotional intelligence will hinder.
2-Identify a relatively recent concept (Alexithemia) and identify its sumptoms and try to reduce prevalence of it.
Practical importanc:
Planning a training program to modify the misconception of those students who suffer from a weak ability to express feelings or suffering from psychological pressure.
Study terms:
1-Emotional Intelligence:
It’s ”a set of mental abilities and personal skills that enable the individual to be consciousness of himself to gain access to the maximum extent possible for managing conscience, empathy and communicate with others, leading to achievie motivation and cope with life difficulties” .
Itis measured by the degre that the student achieve on the scale of emotional intelligence.
2-Alexithemia:
-Taylor defined it (Taylor et al., 1997) as a state reflecting a set of deficiencies in the ability to cope with emotions cognitively, as well as reflecting difficulties for the individual in regulation of his conscience, thus it is considered as one of the predisposing factors to get physical and psychological diseases.
- Researcher procedural definition of Alexithymia is: Cognitive ability deficit and weak conceptual perceptions at expressing emotions and impulses as well as differentiating them, Associated by diminished emotional sentimental, shallow imagination, suppressed emotions, absence of words.
3-Residential Institutions:
Is a developmental, educational ,and social care department ,that is concerned with the care of children deprived of family care ,or living in harsh social conditions that prevent them from being cared for in their natural families because of the orphanage or family distruption ,or inability to provide family care. (Rana BaniEissa,2017).
Study hypothesis:
The present study seeks to test the validity of the following hypotheses:
1-There are differences in Statistical significance between the mean ranks of the scores of the experimental group in the post measurement and pre measurement on emotional intelligence scale and its dimension in favor of the post measurement.
2- There are significant statistically differences between the mean ranks of the scores of the experimental group in the post measurement and and pre measurement on Alexithemia :scale and its dimension in favor of the post measurement.
3-There are no differences between the mean ranks of the scores of the pre measurement and follow up measurement on Alexithemia scale among the students of the experimental group.
4- There are no differences between the mean ranks of the scores of the pre measurement and follow up measurement on emotional intelligence scale among the students of the experimental group.
5- There are significant statistically differences between the mean ranks of the scores of the experimental and control group in the post measurement on emotional intelligence scale and its dimensions in favor of the experimental group.
6- There are significant statistically differences between the mean ranks of the scores of the experimental and control group in the post measurement on Alexithemia scale and its dimensions in favor of the experimental group.
Study limits:
Study sample: The study was conducted on a sample of students of preparatory stage and it was divided in two groups :
1-Exploratory sample:
It is consisted of 40 students of the preparatory stage in the Residential Institutions.
2- The main Sample:
It consisted of 50 students of the preparatory stage in the Residential Institutions. . The sample of the study was divided into two experimental and control groups ,each consisting of (25) students.
Study approach:
The current study used the semi-eperimental approach.
Study place:
The study tools were conducted in the Residential Institution in Nasser City , Governorate of Bani Suef in the second semester of the academic year2019-2020.
Study tools:
the emotional intelligence scale(prepared by researcher)
the scale of Alexithemia (prepared by the researcher)
The training Program( prepared by the researcher).
Statistical methods used:
To achieve study objectives and check veracity of hypotheses; the following statistical methods were used:
1-Pearson Correlation.
2-Alpha cronbach equation.
Wilcoxon equation.
Mann-Whitney equation.
The study results:
1-There are differences in Statistical significance between the mean ranks of the scores of the experimental group in the post measurement and pre measurement on emotional intelligence scale and its dimension in favor of the post measurement.
2-There are significant statistically differences between the mean ranks of the scores of the experimental group in the post measurement and and pre measurement on Alexithemia :scale and its dimension in favor of the post measurement.
