The Research aimed to investigate the effectiveness of teaching a proposed unit for social studies based on the current events approach in developing the awareness of the intellectual safety dimensions of 6th primary pupils. And for achieving the objectives of the research, the researcher used the experimental method using the pre / post implementation of only an experimental group and built the following tools; a pupil`s booklet containing the proposed unit, a teacher`s guide, an achievement test for the concepts of the intellectual safety and a situation test for the intellectual safety dimensions. The sample of the study consisted of 40 sixth primary pupils - selected randomly - from Abu Filu Primary School – Minia Educational Administration in the second term of the academic year 2019 / 2020.
After the statistical treatment – using SPSS program - of the row marks of the sample of the study in the pre / post tests, the research proved that;
1- There was a statistically significant difference at the level of (0.05) between the mean scores of the research group in the pre and post implementation of the concepts of intellectual safety test in favor of the post implementation.
2- There was a statistically significant difference at the level of (0.05) between the mean scores of the research group in the pre and post implementations of the dimensions of intellectual safety test in favor of the post implementation.
Based on the previous results, the research proved the effectiveness of the current events approach in teaching social studies topics and in developing the awareness of the dimensions of intellectual safety among 6th grade pupils, proposed it for teaching different topics in social studies and proposed it for researchers with new variables.
