Abstract Risk management is considered one of the main pivots in project management, especially construction projects, as effective management helps to achieve project objectives; the most frequent risks in the project are management-related risks that include coordination between different disciplines and coordination between the stakeholders in different project stages. On the other hand, the development of information technology has led to reaching innovations for the development of communication and coordination in the various phases of the project from the feasibility stage to the operation and maintenance stage, and one of these innovations is a Building Information modeling. This study focused on investigating the role of building information modeling as a tool for effecting the efficiency of risk management in construction projects. A questionnaire was developed and distributed to participants in the construction field in Saudi Arabia and Egypt. The results and analysis of the survey proved that the building information modeling is clearly effective in the efficiency of risk management and reducing the risks faced by the project, and despite the presence of some obstacles, such as the lack of adequate training, in addition to its not required in a sufficient manner in construction contracts, this obstacles prevent the implementation of building information modeling in construction projects. However, the majority of respondents acknowledged the effectiveness of the tool in risk management in construction projects. |
