Abstract The United Nations High Commissioner for Refugees (UNHCR) reported in 2018 that the total number of refugees and asylum seekers of 58 different nationalities registered in Egypt was 244,910, about 24,392 of them were living in Alexandria, and over a half was from Syria. As Egypt granted access to national health services to refugees and asylum seekers of all nationalities similar as Egyptian nationals; the current study highlighted the extent of accessibility of refugees to different health care services and the barriers that might prevent them from reaching the needed services in the family centers in Alexandria. In addition to their satisfaction about the provided care. In order to understand the situation of healthcare services among refugees, a sample of 300 refugee and/or asylum seeker participants were selected, interviewed in refugees gathering places, using a cross-sectional design. The survey was conducted by means of a structured face to face questionnaire. The age of participants ranged from 18 to 70 years old with a mean age of 44.28 years ± 16.41 years, males represented 58.3% of the sample and most of the participants were married (85.0%). One-third (35.0%) of the studied refugees & asylum seekers had a preparatory level of education, and the highest percentage of them (43.0%) were residing in El Montazah district. The majority of the participants (87.3%) had a nuclear family. Similarly, 88.7% of the respondents were settled in separate houses.
