Abstract

Rheumatoid arthritis is a chronic inflammatory autoimmune disease characterized by persistent synovitis and bone destruction. The goal of this study was to determine the levels of serum substance P as a marker for subclinical rheumatoid arthritis activity. This study was conducted at Mansoura University Hospitals over a period of 12 months from November 2018 to October 2019. We included a total of 90 subjects who were divided into 3 equal groups according to DAS28 score; group 1 included 30 cases with remission or low disease activity, group 2 included 30 cases with active disease (moderate and high disease activity) and group 3 included the other 30 healthy controls.
