Abstract

Summary
Cataracts are opacities of the lens. While some are small and do not require any treatment, others may be large enough to block light and obstruct vision. Cataracts usually develop as the aging lens becomes more and more opaque, but cataracts can also form congenitally or after injury to the lens. Nuclear sclerosis is a type of age-related cataract .
There are many causes that lead to cataract formation as congenital
,trauma ,senile, numerous systemic diseases as diabetes mellitus, myotonic
dystrophy…… et .
There are many complications after cataract surgery as post operative
inflammation , PCO , decentration, …… et.
The most common complications is PCO which lead to impairment of vision after improvement follow cataract surgery .
Laser technology has revolutionized many medical fields. In ophthalmology, lasers are used to photocoagulate, cut, remove, shrink, and stretch ocular tissues.
They are most commonly used to treat posterior capsular opacification after cataract surgery and to create a peripheral iridotomy in patients with narrow angles or angle-closure glaucoma.
YAG lasers can also be used to cut the anterior capsule for capsular block syndrome and capsular phimosis, as well as to cut vitreous strands in

the anterior chamber. In malignant glaucoma, disruption of the anterior hyaloid face is performed with the YAG laser, and in refractory glaucomas, these lasers can be used for cyclophotoablation of the ciliary body. They have also been helpful for draining premacular subhyaloid hemorrhages in patients with Valsalva retinopathy.
Our aim of work was evaluation of effect of Nd-YAG capsulotomy on visual outcome and intraocular pressure.
Our study showed marked improvement in visual acuity and minimal elevation in IOP which return to normal levels within month after procedure.
