Abstract

Diabetes Mellitus (DM) is a real problem all over the world and Egypt where the international Diabetes Federation listed Egypt among the world top10 countries in the number of diabetics. The prevalence of type 2diabetes mellitus (T2DM) in Egyptian society is around 15.56% among adults, but in the future, it is expected to grow. Type 2 diabetes mellitus(T2DM) accounts for around 90% of all cases of diabetes. In T2DM, the response to insulin is diminished, and this is defined as insulin resistance Cardiovascular complications are the main cause of morbidity and mortality in diabetes patients, being two to three times higher than in the nondiabetic population. There is growing evidence that vascular changes in type2 diabetes (DM2) are associated with subclinical inflammatory status and insulin resistance/metabolic syndrome features. Inflammatory markers, such as C-reactive protein and pentraxin 3 (PTX3), are prognostic factors of cardiovascular events and are also involved in the pathogenesis of vascular changes.
