Abstract

Internet is being used extensively throughout the world. In Egypt there were about 80% internet users in 2019 as according to a research conducted by the Ministry of Communications and Information Technology. (Communications and Information Technology,2019) Problematic internet use (PIU) has been defined as ‘an individual’s inability to control their internet use, which in turn leads to feelings of distress and functional impairment of daily activities (Shapira et al., 2000). Hypothesis of the work We hypothesized that internet addiction is highly prevalent among medical students in Mansoura University. Aim of the work This study aims to assess the internet addiction among Egyptian medical students in Mansoura University through the following Objectives:- The specific objectives are to: 1. Estimate the prevalence of internet addiction in medical students of Mansoura University. 2. Explore the factors associated with internet addiction in medical of students of Mansoura University. 3. To explore the effect of the internet addiction on general health of students.
