Abstract Neonates are a special target in parenteral nutrition practice. They have very limited protein and energy reserves. The use of parenteral feeding is started in the first days to weeks of life due to immaturity of the respiratory system and gastrointestinal tract. Total parenteral nutrition, also called parenteral nutrition (PN) admixture, is thus an essential component of nutritional support for neonates. |
