Abstract
1- Through this trial, the use of toltrazuril alone and in combination with sulfaclozine was able to control experimental caecal coccidian infection in chickens.
2- The combined use of both drugs proved to manage the infection adequately, this was observed on growth performance, hematological parameters, blood biochemical parameters and histopathological findings of different organs compared with the control positive group. Also, it was observed that the use of the two drugs separately showed the same results, but it was lower in sulfaclozine.
Recommendation
Further in vivo investigations should be conducted to investigate:
1- The efficacy of toltrazuril and sulfaclozine and their combination against different pathogenic species of Eimeria.
2- The side effects of toltrazuril and sulfaclozine and their combination in normal chicken.
