Abstract
Biopharmaceutics Classification System (BCS) is now considered a valuable tool for selection and design of the formulation for any active pharmaceutical ingredient (API). There are many drugs with low dissolution characteristics and if a
poorly soluble drug (BCS class II) can be converted into a solubilized form, one can achieve a better absorption profile close to that of a soluble drug (BCS class I).Therefore, the most recent formulation development trends aim to achieve a significant solubility enhancement for the drug.
