Abstract

The present study aimed to investigate serum levels of Matrix Metalloproteinase (MMP9) and tissue inhibitor of Metalloproteinase (TIMP-1) as new biomarkers in HCV chronic liver disease The study included 70 patients (63 men and 7 women) Suffering from chronic liver disease were attending at Gastro Enterology Surgical Center (GEC), Mansoura University from April 2016 to April 2017 and 25 Healthy individual (HI) (15 men and 10 Women, mean age 25.3±4.63yrs) used as control group. All patients were subjected to clinical examination imaging radiology, laboratory investigation and histopathological diagnosis the studied groups were categorized into group (I) 25 Healthy individual (15 men and 10 Women; mean age 25.3± 4.63 yrs) used as control group were selected without a clinical history of hepatitis and without symptoms or signs of liver disease, Group(II) 24 patients suffering from HCC associated with HCV infection (23 men and 1 woman; mean age 56.37±4.6 yrs, Group(III) 11 patients suffering from HCC without HCV infection (10men and 1 woman; mean age 53.84± 6.79 yrs), group (IV) 14 patients suffering from LC associated with HCV infection (13 men and 1 woman; mean age 53. 43±9.46yrs), group (5): 11 patients suffering from LC without HCV infection (9 men and 2 women; mean age 52. 64±9.14yrs) and group (6): 10 patients suffering from chronic Hepatitis (HCV) (8 men and 2women; mean age 48. 9 ± 12.4yrs the obtained results, a significant increase in serum GGT, ALT, AST, ALP and LDH activities and total Bilirubin, in liver disease groups (2,3,4,5 and 6) compared with (HI) Group, on other hand the obtained results revealed that, a significant increase in serum GGT, ALT, AST and LDH activities and total Bilirubin in groups 2 and 4 which Positive concentration HCV by RT-PCR compared with groups 3 and 5 where Negative HCV by RT-PCR, a significant decreased of albumin concentration in groups (I, II and III) when compared with group IV. and a significant increase in serum MMP9, TIMP1 in groups (2,3,4, and 5) when compared with HI group, on other hand obtained results revealed that positively significant coloration between MMP9, TIMP1 and biochemical concentration in LC and CH. It could be concluded that, the MMP9 and TIMP1 can be used as new biomarker to diagnosis of chronic hepatitis liver disease and or cirrhosis disease.
