Abstract Background: Inflammatory breast cancer is a rare type of breast cancer, with a lower median age at diagnosis than other types of breast cancer. It is known that; the four molecular subtypes are shown in inflammatory breast cancer and they reveal the prognosis. However, no population-based studies investigated these factors on Egyptian patients. Methods: We searched the medical records at Breast Surgery Unit at Ain Shams University Hospitals to identify female patients diagnosed with IBC from July 2007 through June 2017. Data were scored, tabulated and statistically analyzed. Results: The median age was 47 years. LNs were affected in all patients. Grade III tumors were higher at younger age. Higher incidence of hormonal negative and HER2 positive tumors with prevalence at younger age group. Conclusions: IBC is an aggressive disease affecting Egyptians at younger age with prevalence of hormonal negative, HER2 positive and triple negative subtypes. |
