Abstract

SUMMARY
This study was carried out on 60 females with tension headache, 60 females with migraine headache and 60 healthy, age and sex matched volunteers. The patients and controls were included only if they were between 20-40 years, married, premenopausal and sexually active during the past 6 months, able to read and give consent. Patients were recruited from females attending the Neurology outpatient clinic, with no prior intake of any treatment to control their symptoms. Control group were selected from women of the family members or relatives, accompanying the patients to the hospital.
This study aimed to evaluate the rate of SD among drug naïve women with migraine and tension headache. The participants filled out anonymous self-administered Questionnaire including socio-demographic data form, the validated The validated Arabic Female Sexual Function Index (ArFSFI), and Hospital anxiety and depression scale (HADS-A) (HADS-D). Visual analog scale, Headache Impact Test questionnaire and Migraine-Specific Quality of Life Questionnaire were used to evaluate patients. Male patener of all participants were interviewed to answer International index of erectile function-5.
After statistical analysis , Results were as follows:
• Our study had revealed significant differences between the tension headache and the migraine groups and the controls concerning HADS-A, HADS-D and IIEF-5 scores
• There was highly significant difference between the three groups regarding the total as well as individual domain scores, FSFI values were statistically significantly lower in the migraine and TTHA groups compared with the control group.
• Significant correlation was observed between HITS scores and number of pregnancies.
• There wass significant difference between genitally cut and genitally uncut females in tension headache group concerning depression subscale score.
• Significant correlation was observed between VAS scores patients’ age and number of pregnancies.
• There was significant difference between genitally cut and genitally uncut females in migraine group concerning Total score (FSFI) and IIEF-5 score.
• There was significant correlation between FSFI score (total) and IIEF-5 score.
• Significant Correlations were found in migraine group between FSFI score (total) and HADS-A score, HADS-D score, HITS score, VAS score and IIEF-5 score in migraine group.
• There were significant correlations in control group between total FSFI score and HADS-A, HADS-D and IIEF-5 scores.
• Significant correlations were found in migraine group between HIT-6 and Total score (FSFI), Anxiety subscale score, Depression subscale score , VAS, IIEF-5 score and Migraine specific quality of life.
• Significant correlations were found in migraine group between VAS and Total score (FSFI), HIT-6 and IIEF-5 score.
• Significant correlations were found between Migraine specific quality of life score and FSFI (total score ), HADS-A, HADS-D, HITS, VAS and IIEF-5.
