Abstract

Transmission of multimedia streaming data suffers enormously effective problems that effects directly on the overall system quality of service (QoS). There are critical efficiency metrics that reflect the quality of multimedia streaming such as (i) packet loss; (ii) end-to-end delay; (iii) Packet’s Throughput; (iv) signal to noise ratio (SNR); (v) bit error rate (BER); and (vi) mean opinion score (MOS) through comparing between these Scheduling techniques with overall performance evaluations depending on testing the quality of these methods. In this thesis the selective techniques had been discussed and simulated; the proposed scheduling became carried out on multimedia streaming over long-term evolution advanced (LTE-A) networks. The main purpose of this thesis is to improve the overall performance of streaming data packets (voice, video, HTTP and FTP) over 4.5G networks; also the impact of 4.5G networks at the overall performance of streaming data has been presented as a characteristic of network’s coverage area to study the way to growth system capacity to solve the limitation of streaming data bandwidth. Simulation results had shown that: (i) LTE-A capabilities support higher information rates and massive coverage areas, showing a wireless broadband development for multimedia services by using X2 handover mechanism there is a great effect on the multimedia transmission quality and on the overall network performance compared with the S1 handover mechanism network with 86 % for voice, 70 % for video streaming packets and 86% for HTTP; (ii) DRX long cycle satisfies the most of requirements for the quality of access streaming technologies over wireless networks such as LTE-A with 80 % for voice, 84 % for video streaming packets and 75% for HTTP. Moreover, (iii) Multimedia Streaming below the effect of traditional retransmission mechanisms don’t fulfill the requirements of performance that realize un appropriate values of end-to-end delay, packet delay variation and throughput, but by means of using Smart-HARQ with over LTE-A networks maximum of QoS requirements will be progressed with 85 % for voice, 87 % for video streaming packets and 87% for HTTP; (iv) LTE makes a high-quality enhancement for multimedia streaming systems under the effect of IPv6-GMPLS where it could cause an extensive and QoS enhancement by minimizing packet losses and maximization for packet delivery with total enhancement for network overall performance by 87 % for voice, 85 % for video streaming packets and 86% for HTTP.
