Abstract

Spectral domain optical coherence tomography (SD-OCT) is a non- invasive, cross sectional and highly reproducible imaging technique that can identify retinal layers and with EDI maneuver it also could asses the choroid and help in diagnosis of many choroidal diseases.
The present study was conducted to evaluate the choroidal thickness in eyes of cases with acute CSCR and compare the results with their normal fellow eyes. fifty four eyes of twenty seven cases with unilateral acute CSCR underwent a comprehensive ophthalmic examination, including refraction, visual acuity testing, anterior segment biomicroscopy , fundus examination biomicroscopy , Fluorescein angiography using Heidelberg retina angiograph (HRA, Heidelberg Engineering GmbH, Germany), Acquisition of SD-OCT scans using (Spectralis, Heidelberg Engineering Inc., Heidelberg, Germany).
Our study was conducted on 27 cases with CSCR in one eye and a normal fellow eye. The age ranging between 27 and 51 years with a mean age of 39.74 ± 6.85 years and the patients were 20 males and 7 females.
In our results, the mean SCT in the affected eyes was 482.15 ± 76.88 µ while the mean SCT in their fellow eyes was 386.33 ± 78.30 µ. The SCT in the CSCR affected eyes was statistically significantly thicker th
