Abstract

Statement of problem:To prevent tooth weakening, there is a need for a minimally invasive methods to prepare single crowns. Thus, less invasive finish line preparation and reduced ceramic thickness are required. Aim of this study : To evaluate the fracture resistance of two ceramic systems fabricated with two different preparation designs (vertical and horizontal). Clinical performance of two ceramic systems fabricated with minimal invasive vertical preparation. Materials and methods: Laboratory part and Clinical part Results: Laboratory par t: Non-significan; the higher mean value was recorded with group VCD (482.5±103.8N) and group VK (1347.6±177.4N) versus group HCD (471±107.6N) and group HK (1255.6±121.3N). Clinical part: No restoration required replacement during the 18 months, the overall survival rate of the 20 crowns was 100%. Conclusions: Vertical preparation technique represents a promising alternative to horizontal type that the fracture load resulted using vertical preparation was greater than the horizontal type. Under the conditions of the clinical part, vertical preparation technique expressed promising outcomes for both studied material groups. Clinical Significance: Following all circumstances of this study, both Celtra Duo and KATANA crowns can be used with minimally invasive vertical preparation technique.
