Abstract

Summary Children with autism spectrum disorder (ASD) are almost universally delayed in the acquisition of spokenlanguage as primary means ofcommunication so they tend to have restricted outcomes in terms ofindependence and integration. Therefore, it is important tomake every attempt to induce speech in preverbal childrenwith ASD in order to maximize opportunities for socialinteractions and participation inmainstream settings in school and later life. The aim of this study was to assess the potential therapeutic effect of rTMS in combination with language therapy in language progress in patients with ASD. This study was conducted on thirty Autistic patients(20 males & 10 females) whose ages ranged from three to ten years who presented to the outpatient clinic in Phoniatric unit, Tanta University Hospitals and affiliated hospitals. It was over the period from October 2018 to October 2019. In this randomized control clinical trial, patients were subdivided into 2 groups by simple randomization to either receive active TMS for group I or sham TMS for group II and both groups received language therapy. All patients were subjected to: I-Elementary Diagnostic Procedures: (A)- Patient and Parent interview and Fullcareful history taking (B)- General examination.
