Abstract

Adsorbents based on natural polymers such as polysaccharides have been appeared recently. One of the most deliberated polysaccharides is Carboxymethyl cellulose (CMC) which is an anionic macromolecular polysaccharide with numerous carboxylic and hydroxyl groups. Our strategy involved the preparation of novel anionic adsorbent microbeads that were fabricated based on surface functionalization of p-benzoquinone-carboxymethyl cellulose (CMC-PBQ) activated microbeads with iminodiacetic acid (IDA) for the adsorptive removal of cationic crystal violet (CV) dye.
