Abstract

Visual vertigo is a condition at which there is worsening or triggering of vestibular symptoms in certain visual environments with large size (full field) repetitive or moving visual patterns as shopping malls, striped shirts, passing traffic, trains, 3D movies, flowing water, as they give an illusion of instability or movement (Chin, 2018).This condition is given variable names as visual vertigo, visuo-vestibular mismatch, space and motion discomfort or OKS-mediated hypersensitivity (Hebert& Subramanian, 2019). VV symptoms can significantly improve when customized vestibular rehabilitation exercises are combined with exposure to optokinetic stimui and virtual reality. Virtual reality (VR) may be a useful adjunct as it immerses patients in realistic and visually challenging environments (Wang et al., 2019). This study was conducted to evaluate the vestibular function in patients with visual vertigo using VNG and VEMPs, to study effect of virtual reality and optokinetic stimulation on visual vertigo patients, and to compare between effects of both methods of vestibular rehabilitation on visual vertigo patients.
