Abstract

Successive research paths should pay special attention to trying to restore and complete the deficiency found in many aspects of cellular networks planning. For example, it grabbed our attention that the edge of the cell, in particular, suffers from a lack of coverage that it can provide to users in this area. Wherefore, in this thesis, the main aim is to achieve a trade-off between an optimal coverage area at the cell edge, which is considered to be problematic for the users and spending a moderate cost in the same time. Relay nodes track can play a vital role in cell planning that promise to improve the coverage area concurrently as it considered a low-cost technique. Moreover, another phase has been added after planning, to make sure that the best result is reached, and this phase is to use optimization techniques that represent a major leap in research fields nowadays.
Two scenarios have performed in this thesis to achieve this goal. So that the results of the elementary scenario1 acts as a guide to developing scenario2, which is estimated the main proposal where the cell size has extended, in addition to advancing a redeployment of the relay nodes along the edge of the cell.
After the first stage of scenario1 that related to planning the cell of the elementary scenario has performed, the PSO algorithm has applied to this scenario to realize the best cell plan. Given the simulation results, the PSO results have proved progress in the optimum plan coverage to cost index. For the average of many runs, the performance of the convergence of the PSO algorithm in case of the optimum solution and the average has comparatively balanced. The optimum plan of the cell edge with the power and chosen locations of each relay node deployed has included.
Given that the developed scenario2, first, the plan has designed also the problem has explained. Second, a deployment scenario for the relay nodes in the cell edge has proposed, considering the interference that emerges from these nodes to reach the optimal plan and realize our target. Then, a sophisticated PSOGSA optimization was employed to obtain the optimum plan and increase the leverage of the results. Therefore, we compared the results with another advanced algorithm, the FSABA, in addition to the PSO algorithm. from the essence of the results, the PSOGSA performs better than other algorithms, in which the plan of the cell edge has a coverage percentage is 79.54% from the impact of the relay nodes only, with the lowest cost. The cell edge throughput of the optimum plan is calculated. Consequently, the throughput is presented whether the number of users increase or decrease through the cell edge. The simulations patently prove the enhanced performance of the proposed plan using the optimization of the PSOGSA.
