Abstract

The main incentive behind this study was the elimination of the hazardous Volatile Organic Compounds (VOCs) emissions from atmosphere, especially benzene, toluene, and xylene (BTX). Catalytic oxidation is the most effective and economic method to eliminate VOCs via complete destruction using active metal catalyst. Metal-oxide catalysts are used rather than the conventional noble metal catalysts for their low prices, availability, and long lifetime. Cobalt oxide catalyst was particularly selected for this study as it possesses high efficiency mesoporous structure that enhances the catalytic oxidation behavior. This can be achieved by adopting the structure of ordered mesoporous silica template. Herein, ordered meso-Co3O4 catalysts are generated by nanocasting from KIT-6 silica, then loaded with V2O5. For this study, meso-Co3O4 with.
