Abstract

Background : Studying the effects of sexual dysfunction on sexual quality of life and its associated comorbidities as depression, fatigue and cognitive dysfunction using sexual function and sexual quality of life questionnaires, beck depression inventory questionnaire, Minimental state examination (MMSE) and neurophysiological tests (Visual Evoked Potential (VEP)) in patients with in relapsing-remitting Multiple Sclerosis and searching for possible sex difference Patients and Methods : 60 married patients with with relapsing remitting multiple sclerosis (RRMS) (30 males and 30 females) diagnosed according to the McDonald criteria 2017. Neurological impairment was evaluated with Kurtzke expanded disability status scale (EDSS) for clinical scoring and underwent assessment with sexual function and sexual quality of life questionnaires, beck depression inventory questionnaire, Modified fatigue scale, Minimental state examination (MMSE) and neurophysiological tests (Visual Evoked Potential (VEP). Statistical Package for the Social Sciences (SPSS) vs.21 was used for statistical analysis. A ‘p’ b 0.05 was considered as statistically significant. Results : Severe and very severe depression , fatigue and high EDSS had been reported in our study to show a significant statistical difference to predict sexual dysfunction in 80% of studied cases of RRMS. Conclusion : Patients with severe and very severe depression, fatigue and higher EDSS had sever affection in sexual function and sexual quality of life.
