Abstract This invitro study was carried out on epoxy resin models represent mandibular edentulous arch with 2 mm resilient layer represent oral mucosa, the aim of the work was to compare retention and wear characteristics of Locator and OT equator attachments during one year of functional simulation. • group I: Received Locator attachments • group II: Received OT equator attachments Drilling of the models was done using milling machine and each model received two implant fixtures (4x11) mm, parallel to each other at zero angulation. The overdentures were constructed in the usual manners and the teeth were set in lingualized occlusion. Direct pick up of the attachments was done and white and clear nylon inserts were used for Locator and OT equator attachments respectively. The mandibular overdentures were subjected to 240,000 chewing cycles using Robota chewing simulator and 1080 insertionremoval cycles. Retention of the samples was measured by the Universal testing machine and nylon inserts scanned under USB digital microscope both of which were done at the beginning of the study and after 3,6,9,12 moths. Data was collected, tabulated and statistically analyzed using the mean, standard deviation, student t-test with statistical software package SPSS software version.22 package system. |
