Abstract Dye-sensitized solar cells (DSSCs) have drawn lots of attention in the last two decades and are regarded as potential alternatives to traditional solar cell. The dye sensitization effect was first utilized for photovoltaic energy conversion by Honda in 1972. The breakthrough of dye sensitization occurred in the early 1991, when O’Regan and Grätzel fabricated a solar cell by successfully joining nanostructured electrodes with efficient charge injection dyes. After that, the field of DSSCs has grown at a rapid pace with leading certified efficiencies reaching 13% in less than three decades. In this thesis, we synthesized different sensitizers characterized for dye-sensitized solar cells. |
